Norman "Chuck" Morken died on Sunday, February 25, 2018, surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota. The visitation will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and on Saturday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.
Norman Charles Morken was born on May 29, 1950 to Norman and Agnes (Flom) Morken in Red Wing. He was raised in Cherry Grove Township on the family farm. Chuck graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1968 and he attended Austin Vo-Tech. He continued to work on the family farm, he was married in 1971, they moved to Rushford and had three children. He worked at Minnesota Farm Buildings as a carpenter. They later divorced and Chuck moved back to Wanamingo, he continued to help farmers in the area and started doing his own carpentry projects. Chuck married Carolyn Olson - O'Reilly on June 29, 1990 at Dale Lutheran Church in Kenyon. They settled in Zumbrota, he worked as a supervisor at Riviera Cabinets in Red Wing and retired in 2007 due to health issues. In his retirement he still enjoyed building furniture and working with his brother-in-law.
Chuck enjoyed, camping, fiddling in the garage, rooting for MN sports teams, especially the Twins and Vikings, socializing with friends and especially spending time with his family.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Carolyn Morken; three children, Jonny (Angie) Morken, Eric Morken, Shelly Morken (fiancé, Buddy Westerberg); two step-children, Colleen O'Reilly, LouAnn (Kory) Wiech; thirteen grandchildren, Carson, Charlee, Mickee, Jake, Jordan, Ashlyn, Cody, Carly, Michael, Brittany, Tucker, Taylor (Megan), and Tiffany; three great-grandchildren, Dalton, Micah, and Nora; two sisters, Mary Jo (Dan) Grimsrud, and Ellen (Dallas) Turner; many nieces and nephews; and his special four legged friend, Fritz.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, and niece, Tiana Turner.
