Paul Thomas Weckerling

Paul Thomas Weckerling, 65, of Red Wing, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at his home. He was born December 28, 1952, in Taylorville, Illinois, to Phillip and Lillian (Klug) Weckerling. At the age of 9, his family moved to Red Wing, where he attended school and graduated from Red Wing Central High in 1971. He then took landscaping courses at Dakota Technical College and had served in the Army National Guard for a number of years. On November 15, 1975, he was united in marriage to Vicki Strusz at Vasa Lutheran Church. He worked for the City of Red Wing and Wisconsin Industrial Sand as a heavy equipment operator. He was an active member of Vasa Lutheran Church and had been on mission trips to Bolivia, building water purifiers. Paul enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, mowing the lawn and working on landscaping projects.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter, Elisa (Randy) Nickum of Silver Spring, MD; son, Kyle (Colby) Weckerling of Eden Prairie; granddaughter, Hailey Weckerling; brother, Kent (Lisa) Weckerling of Goodhue; sister, Sandra Jones of Rochester; mother-in-law, Vivian Strusz of Red Wing and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Vasa Lutheran Church with Rev. Maureen Hagen officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
