Raymond E. Zielkie

Raymond Ervin Zielkie, 80, of Bay City, died Thursday, February 13, 2020. He was born December 13, 1939 to Ervin and Loretta (Ledebuhr) Zielkie in Red Wing. He grew up on his family dairy farm and attended school in Ellsworth, graduating in 1958. He married Lois Hofmeister on May 27, 1967 and the couple raised two children. Ray continued to farm his own dairy and beef cattle and he also drove semi for some time. He loved his truck, hunting, spending time outdoors and was most at home working with his beef cattle. A mild man, he was farmer at heart who quietly loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; two children, Christopher Zielkie of Bay City and Dannielle (Anthony Cappola) Zielkie of Red Wing; three grandchildren, Jaycee Gilbertson, Paris Gilbertson and Carmella Cappola; sisters, Darlene Ecker of Hudson, Wis. and Delores (William) Mathis of Alma, Wis.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Norman Sorensen and brother-in-law Allen Ecker.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson Mahn Chapel with Chaplain William Bradley officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in the Spring at Heartland Methodist Cemetery in Bay City.
