Rosella Gisslen

August 23, 1924 — October 5, 2019

Rosella Mae Gisslen, 95, of Red Wing, died Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Zumbrota Care Center. She was born on August 23, 1924, in Hartland Township, Pierce County Wisconsin to George and Ella (Haugen) Sather. She grew up on the family farm in Esdaile, WI and attended country schools. On April 29, 1944, she was united in marriage to Robert Gisslen at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing, MN. They made their home and raised their family in Wacouta Beach. She worked at Marigold Foods, Red Wing Shoe Co. and volunteered for many years at the Red Wing Correctional Facility. An active member of United Lutheran Church, she was active in women's circles. She enjoyed cooking, entertaining, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Rosella is survived by seven grandchildren, Donna (Michael) Polski of Rosemount, MN Nathan (Stephanie) Nelson of Aitkin, MN, Stephanie Gisslen of Duluth, MN, Judge Gisslen and Reid Gisslen both of Lake City, MN, Tate (Amy) Gisslen of Minneapolis, MN and Jenny (Isaac) Drew of Ankeny, IA; nine great grandchildren, Derek, Mikayla, Brekah, Braeden, Lydia, Garrett, Elise, Samara and Easton; one daughter-in-law, Sandra Gisslen of Lake City, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; three children, Judith Nelson, Steven Gisslen and Paul Gisslen and five sisters, Elaine Anderson, Dorothy Dahl, Alice Kuhfuss, Marci Carlson and Lillian Froisland.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 at United Lutheran Church with Reverend Karl Rydholm officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
