Ruth Amelia Withers

March 24, 1919 — April 7, 2019

Ruth Amelia Withers, 100, of Red Wing, died Sunday morning, April 7, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born and delivered, by her maternal grandmother, on March 24, 1919, at 619 Plum Street in Red Wing to Axel and Caroline (Schuetz) Olson. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1937. On May 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Millard "Canary" Withers. During the World War II years she worked at Brown and Bigelow in St. Paul and was employed by JC Penny in Red Wing for many years. Millard died on March 26, 1987. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Red Wing Golf Club, and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in 1959.

She is survived by her four children, Richard (Rhonda) Withers of Champlin, James (Janet ) Withers of Gambrills, Maryland, Thomas (Denise) Withers of Red Wing and Connie Boline of Rochester; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Margaret Todd and Louise Bearson; infant grandson and one son-in-law, Charles Boline.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2019, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Reverend Dana Jackson. A family burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to the church or donor's choice.
