Stanley R. Kukuska

Stanley Richard Kukuska, 74, of Maiden Rock, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing. He was born on March 1, 1945, in River Falls to Stanley and Jessie (Richards) Kukuska. He grew up in River Falls and attended Catholic school there. In 1965 he was united in marriage to Delphine Vinge, and soon after he enlisted in the US Army serving from 1966 to 1969. He and Delphine lived in Oakland, California during his military service, returning to Wisconsin to raise their three children. Over the years they lived in Prescott, Bay City and Maiden Rock. They later divorced. Stanley worked at the Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in the Twin Cities for 34 years where he was known as the "Polcat". He retired in 2004. He met his significant other, Debbie Simonson in 1998 and they have been enjoying life together ever since. His pastimes included dancing--especially to 50's and 60's music, farming, hunting, watching cowboy shows and politics.. He was an avid Packer fan but most of all he loved his children and grandchildren and loved taking them for rides on his tractors.
Survivors include his children, Jeff of Maiden Rock and Stacy (Josh) Kiefer of Red Wing; his significant other, Debbie Simonson and her children, Angela (Mark) Westberg of Green River, Wyoming and Cassie (Brent) Fenner of Bay City; nine grandchildren; four siblings, Joanne Howe of Ellsworth, Ethel Pfingsten of Ellsworth, May Lou (Bob) Raverty of River Falls and Mike Kukuska of Ellsworth; many nieces and nephews and his two dogs Charlie and Neea. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rick Kukuska; two brothers-in-law, Doug Pfingsten and Fred Howe and one nephew, Freddie Howe.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
