Stanley George Lexvold, 75, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born October 2, 1941 in Red Wing, to George and Evelyn (Scharpen) Lexvold. He grew up in the Asplund area and attended country school before going on to Wanamingo High School. He started working for Wabasha County where he discovered a talent for conservation and design. He then went on to study civil engineering at Dunwoody. He helped to start the civil engineering department for the City of Burnsville and later he worked for the City of Eagan. Stan was never disappointed with his career choice and enjoyed his work until his retirement in 2004. During his "retirement" he continued to work as a consultant until 2012.
In 1966, he married Galene Aadahl at Lands Lutheran Church in Zumbrota and together, they raised three children on a hobby farm in Vasa. Never one to be idle, Stan enjoyed the work that came with his farm. He was a talented gardener and landscaper, something that he continued to do when the family moved to Red Wing. He found many ways to keep busy but he particularly enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He took many fishing trips to Canada with his friend Jerry. Stan was also a loyal fan of Gophers Basketball and attended many games.
He will be missed by many, including his wife, Galene; children, Camille Kimmes , Nicole (Jeffrey) Lexvold, and Nathanael (Yvonne) Lexvold; five grandchildren, Langston, Owen, Kobe, Mariah and Adriana; sisters, Sandra (Roy) Fritz, Shirley Hanson; brother, Larry (Connie) Lexvold as well as many cousins, other family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Duane Lexvold.
