Susan D. Peterman, age 79 of Zumbrota died on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at her residence. A Memorial Mass will be on Friday, August, 31, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa with Father William Thompson officiating. Inurnment will be in St. Paul's Catholic Church Cemetery in Zumbrota. Visitation will be on Friday for two hours prior to the mass at the church.
Susan Doris Haugen was born on April 14, 1939 on the family farm at Lena Station in Pine Island Township, Goodhue County, MN to Orrin and Doris (Lally) Haugen. She graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1956. Susan worked for a short time in the Securities Division at the State Capitol in St. Paul after graduation. In November of 1956, she started working for the IBM Corporation in Rochester, retiring in 1992 after thirty six years of employment. On June 3, 1961 she married Luverne Peterman at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota.
Susan was baptized at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa and conformed at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Zumbrota where she was a member of the Bernadette Circle of St. Paul's CCW; she taught CCD classes for several years and also served on the Cemetery Board and Parish Council. She enjoyed needlework, bird watching, figure skating on TV but most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
Susan is survived by her three sons, Gene (Sheryl), Neal (Candy) and Paul (Jodi) all of Zumbrota; two granddaughters, Britani and Katherine; two grandsons, Nickolas and Joseph; two sisters, Yvonne Peper of Cottage Grove and Helen (Ned) Hunter of Hastings; two sisters-in-law, Susan Haugen of Cass Lake and Joan Peterman of Mankato; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Carol) Peterman of Pine Island and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Luverne; parents; two brothers, Cecil Haugen and Gregory Haugen; two nephews, Bill Peper and Lance Haugen; one great-nephew, Bryce Haugen and one great-niece, Jamie O'Reilly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Zumbrota Fire and Rescue Department, Zumbrota Community Trust or St. Paul's Catholic Church Cemetery Association.
