Thomas W. Laughnan

Thomas Wilbur Laughnan, 77, of Red Wing, died Saturday, December 1, 2018, at his home. He was born on July 13, 1941, in Red Wing to Wilbur and Helen (Martin) Laughnan. He attended schools and then served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Following his discharge he was employed by Minneapolis Moline in the Twin Cities and then for many years at Durkee Atwood in Red Wing. On December 28, 1979 he married Carole Andrist. Tom was a private man who loved his family, his life, his dog Bandit, and a good root beer float.
He is survived by his wife, Carole of 39 years; three step children, Duaine (Jamie) Swarthout, Tammy Swarthout and Lori Blue; seven step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; three sisters, Rita (Ronald) Anthofer, Joan (Dennis) Belt and Theresa (Jerry) Voth and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018, at the Church of St. Joseph with Father Thomas Kommers presiding. Military honors will follow the service. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
