Verna Betcher

Verna Emma Margaret Betcher, 92, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at her home at Deer Crest. She was born August 6, 1927 to Wilhelm and Hedwig (Kempf) Hadler in Belle Creek Township. She attended rural school at Belle Creek and in 1945 graduated from Goodhue High School. She worked for various farmers until she married Arnold Betcher on September 20, 1951. They farmed for many years in Belvidere Township. In 1992, they moved to Goodhue where they lived until moving to Deer Crest in 2010. Arnold died on April 2, 2013. She was a member of St. Peter's Luther Church, Belvidere and also a member of the local birthday club. She enjoyed gardening, especially raising raspberries, sewing and puzzles.
She is survived by her children; Glen (Janette) Betcher of Zumbrota, Eugene (Sherri) Betcher of Bellechester, Sharon (Jeffrey M. Rice) Betcher Rice of Langley, WA, Arlan (Brenda) Betcher of Belvidere; 11 grandchildren, Timothy, Bryan, Eric, Andrew, Ty, Ashlyn, Matthew, Jackie, Anthony, Sarah and Jesse; 15 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lyla Hadler of Arizona, Barb Betcher and Mildred Betcher both of Red Wing, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Willis and Arvin Hadler, and her parents.
An outdoor funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Belvidere with Reverend Steven Frentz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Masks and social distancing are encouraged. Please bring your own chair. Memorials are preferred to the church.
