Verneil Bodelson

Verneil Sabina Bodelson, age 97, of Red Wing, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the St. Crispin Living Community, Seminary Home. She was born May 26, 1920, in Featherstone Township, the daughter of Ernest and Alma (Holst) Stumpf. She attended schools in Hay Creek. She worked at the Red Wing Shoe Company and later in the art department at Red Wing Pottery. She married Gordon Bodelson on April 26, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hay Creek and they farmed in Belle Creek Township until his death in 1992. She then moved to the upper Burnside area of Red Wing and was a member of Vasa Lutheran Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, mowing lawn and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by one brother, Earl (Lois) Stumpf; and one sister-in-law Phyllis Stumpf both of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; brother, Roy Stumpf; twin sisters, Syvilla Madsen and Sylvia Madsen and one stepsister, Marilyn Holmquist.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Vasa Lutheran Church with Reverend Maureen Hagen officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
