William Wesley Hilleshiem, 83, of Red Wing, died peacefully Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at his home, where he has resided for the past 50 years. He was born on January 18, 1934, in Kellogg, Minnesota to Buford and Etta (Van Houton) Hilleshiem. He attended rural schools near Kellogg. On August 9, 1959, he married Judy Barnhart in Rochester, MN. For a few years he worked as a farm hand, for several farmers and at the Red Wing Flour Mill. William had a 34 year career working at Durkee-Atwood. He then was employed at Fulton Fabrication and lastly at Bergquist Company before retiring. William enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, playing cards, winemaking, watching western movies, collecting toy tractors and giving the grandkids rides on the golf cart around the farm. He was hardworking, always willing to give a helping hand. William always had a smile on his face. His family recalls the love that he shared with each of them, including the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed to be with all of his family and 3 generations of his nieces and nephews when they all gathered in early December to celebrate "Hilleshiem Christmas."
Survivors include his wife, Judy; three children, Patrick (JoAnn) Hilleshiem, Debra Conrad and Scott Hilleshiem all of Goodhue; 11 grandchildren, Lee (Tami) Hilleshiem, Les (Amanda) Hilleshiem, Bradley Hilleshiem, Alicia Hilleshiem, Amber Hilleshiem, Jessica (Jesse) Ferguson, Christopher (Britney) Conrad, Cassandra Conrad, Shawna Conrad, Hayley Hilleshiem and Stephen Hilleshiem; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Francis and Carl Hilleshiem and three sisters, Clara Duden, Agnes Paddock and Ruby Hanenberger.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Goodhue with Reverend Regina Hassanally officiating. Burial will be at the Hope Cemetery in Featherstone Township. Visitation will be from 4 p.m.to 7 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.
