Willis David Hinrichs

February 7, 1933 — May 26, 2019

Willis D. Hinrichs, age 86 of Goodhue died on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at St. Crispins Care Center in Red Wing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Wayne Schoch officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Zumbrota Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements were made with Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel.

Willis David Hinrichs was born February 7, 1933 to John and Lorena (Borgschatz) Hinrichs in rural Zumbrota. He attended rural elementary school and then graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College High School in New Ulm. Willis joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He attended River Falls University, Dunwoody Institute, and completed numerous electronics courses. On December 21, 1958, Willis married Miriam Reese at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue. Willis was employed by Boeing Company in 1961 as a minuteman missile technician, in Seattle, WA. For 12 years. In 1972, he and Miriam formed Hinrichs Realty and later Midwest Land Brokers, INC. As owner broker Willis loved Real Estate and worked in this field until his memory was failing. He entered St. Elizabeth's Care Center in Wabasha in 2018 and in 2019 St. Crispins Care Center. Willis was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post #5727 Stary-Yerka, and the American Legion.

Willis enjoyed flower gardening, playing cards, polka dancing, and spending time with his family.

Willis is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Miriam; six children, John (Pam) Hinrichs, Joleen (Grant) Fogelson-Hunder, Jackie Uzoh, Jan (Rich) Udenberg, Janelle (Michael) Bolstad, and Joyce (Steve) Bellows; 11 grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Fogelson, Nick (Lindsay) Fogelson, Danielle (Nick) Dennison, Madison Hinrichs, Christine Uzoh, Conrad (Zaria) Uzoh, Ashlan (Toby) Kaplan, Jason (Heather) Bolstad, Alyssa (Austin) Steele, Rebecca and Jacob Bellows; two step grandchildren, Krista Bellows and Veronica Hunder; nine great-grandchildren; siblings, John Hinrichs, Lucille Quam, Lillian Anderson and Judy Campbell.

Willis was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth Hinrichs, Arley Hinrichs, Doris Miller, and Marie Bolster; great-granddaughter, Everly Elise Bolstad; and his parents.

Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church or Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.
