Alice Mae Finstuen, 76, of Zumbrota, died August 8, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Christ Lutheran Church in Zumbrota with Pastor Erich Westphal officiating. Interment will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Alice's grandchildren, Steven Finstuen, Jarid Finstuen, Andrew Finstuen, Tabitha Finstuen, Emily Simonson, Mariah Simonson and Lucas Simonson. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Friday, August 11, 2006 at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. Alice Mae Mary Jerowski was born August 28, 1929 to Peter and Margaret Jerowski in Winona, Minnesota. She attended Winona area schools and graduated from Winona High School. She married Cecil Haugen in 1950. They made their home in Zumbrota and later divorced. Alice married Duane Finstuen on August 27, 1960. The couple made their home in Zumbrota and farmed in Minneola Township from 1969-1987. Alice worked as a waitress at local restaurants for many years. She was later employed by Dr. Oliver Larson as a bookkeeper. She inherited the Blue Goose Tavern from her daughter Dee Dee in 1981. She then ran the business with her partner, Butch Wobschall until 1987. After that Alice worked at the Zumbrota Golf Course until she retired in 1994. Alice loved to sew, bake, was a devout Twins fan and loved to yell at the TV when the Vikings played. She blessed many people with her crafts, baked goods and zest for life. She is survived by her husband, Duane of Zumbrota; daughters, Faye Haugen of Zumbrota and Kim Simonson of Zumbrota; son, Scott (Jill) Finstuen of Faribault; grandchildren, Steven, Tabitha, Jarid and Andrew Finstuen, Emily, Mariah and Lucas Simonson; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Kaylee Finstuen; brother, Ed (Pat) Jerowski of Winona, MN; sisters, Mary (Don) Walski of Monroe, UT and Jean (Bill) Grubbs of Roanoke, VA and sister-in-law, Ruth Jerowski. Alice was preceded in death by daughter, Dee Dee; five sons, Steven Finstuen, Terrence, Edward, Cecil and Gene Haugen; son-in-law, Rob Simonson; brother, Peter; sister, Grace and her parents.
