Brian Richard Bromen, age 71, of Lake City died on June 22, 2022 in Kellogg, MN, doing the work he loved.

Brian was born on September 11, 1950 in Marshall, Minnesota the son of Howard Leo and Dorothy Beatrice (nee Boerboom) Bromen. He was educated in the Marshall area schools and graduated from Marshall High School in 1968. He then attended Southwest Minnesota State University, graduating with a degree in business in 1972. On August 28, 1971 Brian and Melissa Chamberlain were united in marriage at First Lutheran Church in Lake City. Following their marriage, Brian and his father, Howard, owned and operated Bromen Office Supply from 1972 until Howard’s retirement. At that time Brian became sole owner until he sold the business. Brian continued to work in retail for many years following the sale. After his retirement he worked as a driver for Marshall Area Transit. Following his wife’s retirement, the couple returned to her hometown of Lake City. Brian had just begun work for Frontenac State Park prior to his death. He was a former member of the Jaycees and Rotary Club in Marshall. He was a proud member of the Marshall Area Workforce Council. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall and served on various committees within the church. In his free time he coached baseball, played golf, and enjoyed spending time at the family lake home.

Brian is survived by his wife: Melissa of Lake City, his son: Matthew (Susan) Bromen of Claremont, CA and his daughter: Rachel (Ryan) Scott of Red Wing. He is further survived by his grandsons: Max Bromen and Jackson Scott, sister: Sue Bromen of Marshall, sister-in-law: Sharon Bromen of Elk River, and many nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Bruce Bromen.

A gathering of friends will take place on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City. Online condolences can be left for the family  at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
