Bruce Earl Vagt, 75, of Mazeppa died on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester after an extended illness.

He was born on September 25, 1947 to Edwin and June (Wegner)
Vagt in Rochester, MN.

Bruce grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1965. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1966-68. He married Susan Wiebold on April 19, 1969. They celebrated 53 years of marriage in April of 2022.

Bruce was a proud Veteran, loving to display his memorabilia and patriotism
in his home. He was a member and past Commander of the American Legion in
Hammond, MN and later, a member of the American Legion in Mazeppa, MN.

Bruce worked for the Wabasha County Highway Dept. from 1980-1983, farmed for
10 years before going back to Wabasha County from 1993-2013. He retired with
29 years of service to Wabasha County roads and ditches. His favorite
pastimes were fishing, gardening, taking care of his lawn, telling stories,
and spending time with family.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Susan (Wiebold) Vagt of Mazeppa; children,
Brenda (Karl) Nahrgang of Mazeppa, Lisa Vagt of Rochester, Diana (Roger)
Heimberg of Claremont, Mandi (Scott) Boldt of Red Wing; 9 grandchildren; 11
great grandchildren; brothers, Steve (Gladys) Vagt of Mazeppa, Edwin Jr. (Reva) Vagt of Mazeppa, Lance (Ruth) Vagt of Plainview; sisters, Marsha Kettner of Pine Island, Robin Bye (Raymond) of Pine Island; and his beloved German Shepherd, Indy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and June.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mazeppa Community Center on Friday, November 18, 2022.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Disabled American Veterans Charity or RideAbility in Pine Island.
