Red Wing

Carol Ann Kosec, 88, of Red Wing, died Thursday, May 29, 2025 at her home at Deer Crest. She was born September 19, 1936, in Red Wing, to Harold and Lois (Luth) Eckblad. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School and went through an X-ray tech training program. Carol then started her career at Interstate Medical Center and stayed there as it changed to Fairview Health and Mayo Clinic. She married Richard “Dick” Allen Kosec on February 25, 1956 and the couple raised their three children in Red Wing. They were members of Christ Episcopal Church.  

She enjoyed golfing throughout the years and was a member of Mississippi National Golf Links. Carol and Dick loved spending time together wintering in Florida. Her family remembers her as an excellent baker and her fondness of the Turner Classic Movie channel.  

She is survived by her two daughters, Lori (Steven) Johnson of Champlin and Christine (Wes) Hayes of Red Wing; grandchildren, Kevin (Rachel) and Ryan (Jane) Hayes and Jason and Allison Johnson; great-grandchildren, Morgyn and Mykah Johnson and Otto Hayes and one on the way, “Baby Tate”; siblings, Bruce Ekblad of Red Wing and Judy Cote of Maine; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Kosec; son, Grant Kosec; her siblings, Dale, David, and Martha Eckblad and her parents.  

Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Christ Episcopal Church with Reverend Aaron Twait officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be after the service at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude’s.  Arrangement handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
