Carol Ann Sammon, 88, of Red Wing, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, surrounded by family, at her home at Deer Crest. She was born June 8, 1937, in Faribault, to Martin “Mux” and Blanche (Hallet) Schultz. She graduated from Faribault High School in 1956 and was united in marriage to Roger Sammon that fall at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Faribault. They resided there until 1968 when they moved to Red Wing. Carol was a member of the Church of St. Joseph and had volunteered at both the church and school, as well as the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She enjoyed reading, square dancing and playing cards. Many summers were spent “up north” on vacation and making cinnamon rolls for breakfast. She and Roger enjoyed traveling to many places, including several trips to Branson, where they enjoyed the music and the shows.
She is survived by her children, Cindi (Mike) Simonson of Red Wing, Brett (Jennie) Sammon of Hager City, WI, Bart Sammon of Maple Grove, Jeff Sammon of Turtle Lake, WI and Joyce Sahli of Almena, WI; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Darryl (Julie) Dodge of Turtle Lake, WI; sister, Joan (Dave) Nasby of Faribault and; brothers-in-law, Joseph “JR” (Raye) Sammon of Colorado Springs, CO and Jerome “Jerry” (Mary Ann) Sammon of Florida and sister-in-law, Patricia Hallman of St. Charles, MO and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger and daughter, Jody Dodge.
Graveside service will be 12 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the Red Wing Elks Lodge, following the graveside, from 1-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please join us in celebrating or donating to a charity of your choice. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
