Charlotte Eunice Burt

Charlotte Eunice Burt, 81, of Prescott, WI (formerly of Ellsworth) died on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in La Crosse, WI to Henry and Gertrude (Michels) Becker on March 29, 1944. Charlotte married James "Jim" Burt on July 11, 1964 at St Wenceslaus Catholic Church in La Crosse, WI.

She attended St. Joseph's Catholic grade school in St. Joseph, WI. She graduated from Aquinas High School in La Crosse in 1962. Charlotte went back to school after the boy's graduated from high school at the University of Wisconsin, River Falls, where she graduated with a BS degree in business and accounting in 1997.

Charlotte grew up in the St. Joseph's Ridge area of rural La Crosse. She moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked for Northwestern Life Insurance Co. Charlotte and Jim moved to Hager City, WI in 1968 where Charlotte went to work for the Ralston Purina Co. After 30 years she retired in 1999. In 1977 they moved to Ellsworth, WI, and moved to Prescott, WI in 2021 to a twin home, downsizing and having everything on one floor.

Charlotte and Jim have done extensive traveling to Europe, China, Alaska, and several cruises. They have traveled throughout the Unites States and Canada by motorcycle and motorhome; going to Arizona in 2001, and wintering there for the next 24 years. Charlotte enjoyed family, reading mystery novels, jigsaw puzzles, and classic country music.

She is survived by her husband of 60 plus years, Jim; her sons Robert (Thom McGee) of Aurora, CO, and Steven of Prescott, WI; brothers Eugene of Des Moines, IA, Thomas of West Salem, WI, and Monti of Venice, FL; sister Monica Bentzon of Trempealeau, WI; and sister-in-law Elaine Becker of La Crosse, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Henry, Daniel, and Marvin; sister Myra Klos; brother-in-law Ronald "Butch" Klos; and sister-in-law Francis Becker.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prescott, WI. A visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service.  

Memorials preferred to the Dementia Society, the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research, or a charity of choice. Charlotte's favorite charities were the Carpenter Nature Center of Hastings, MN, Eagle Bluff Environmental Center of Lanesboro, MN, or Sunshine Acres Children's Home of Mesa, AZ.
