Clarence Howard Jordahl, 86, of Red Wing, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Benedictine Living Community, St Crispin in Red Wing. He was born on August 22, 1938, in Sisseton, South Dakota to Hans and Martha (May) Jordahl. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1956, and then served in the US Army for three years. In 1961, he moved to Minneapolis and worked at NSP for 37 ½ years. On September 22, 1962, Clarence was united in marriage to Janet Ellingson in New Effington, SD. They were blessed with two children, Lisa and Darren. They lived in Minneapolis and New Hope until moving to Red Wing in 1998. After retiring in 2000, Clarence worked part time at the Hospital, Seminary Home, Behrens Auto Supply and the Lake Pepin Rest Stop. He always stayed busy working on cars and keeping things in tip top shape. His family recalls all the opportunities they had together at Mount Carmel, Twin Lakes camping and fishing, the New Hope pool and sledding in New Hope and Red Wing.
Clarence is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Janet; two children, Lisa (Shane) Helms of Findlay, Ohio and Darren Jordahl of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; 15 grandchildren, Kenzi Ruhlen, Caleb (Shelby) Helms, Elisabeth (Jonathan) Gutierrez, Rachel (Filip) Radcliffe, Erin Helms, Shayna (Matt) Glick, Moriah (Joshua) Inkrott, Janay (Bryce) Gray, Gaben, Baret, Anika and Daved Helms, Dalton Jordahl, Mallory (Bradley) Mateer and Liam Jordahl; 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Doris Benson of Sisseton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Edna, Lila, Irene, Kenneth and Muriel.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date at the Bethel Cemetery in Sisseton, SD.
