Cora Day

Cora Cecilia Day, 84, passed away on July 6th, 2024 at her home following a brief illness.

She was born on December 22, 1939 in Claremont, MN to Fred and Esther (Northway) Hodge. She then moved to the Kasson area as a young child, and then to Stewartville until the death of her father. Cora married her neighbor, Palmer Jorgenson, in July of 1958. Cora and Palmer had two sons, Robert and Dennis, who were born and raised in Rock Dell. Cora and Palmer later divorced. Cora later married Dean Day in August of 1983. They later divorced. Later on, she then met a special companion, Don Batt.

She loved her job in the accounting field and did this for many years. In 2008, she retired from Floyd Larson Construction. She continued cleaning houses for several years for many wonderful clients. Cora enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to go fishing and loved camping with her family and friends. Her two sons were her pride and joy in life. She enjoyed family get togethers with her brothers and sisters, playing 500 and enjoying Oyster Stew. In her later years, she really took up a love for quilting. She made 100 quilts for numerous family members and friends. Her 100th quilt kept her comfort in these past few weeks of her illness.

She is survived by her sons, Robert (Nina) Jorgenson, Dennis (Maryann) Jorgenson; six grandchildren, Robert (Crystal) Jorgenson Jr., Jon Jorgenson, Julia (Andrew) Forti, Tim (Channie) Jorgenson, Teresa Jorgenson, and Laura (Robert) Westendorf; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her former husbands, Palmer Jorgenson, and Dean Day, as well as her companion Don Batt; her parents, Fred and Esther; brothers Ervin, Floyd, Chester, Donald, Roy; sisters Opal, Betty, Frances, Marcella.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Mahn family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with an hour of visitation prior. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
