Dale “Butch” Emanuel Johnson, age 64, formerly of Red Wing, passed away on October 31, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in West St. Paul after a long battle with dementia.
He was born on July 18, 1961, in New Ulm, Minnesota, and moved to Red Wing as a child, where he spent most of his life. Butch worked in operations at the Prairie Island Nuclear Plant for more than 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and riding his motorcycle, and he especially valued time spent with his friends and family.
He is survived by his son, Alex (Elise) Johnson; two stepdaughters, Allison (Josh) Davidson and Alison (Ben) Busby; and his brother, Kevin (Julie) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Johnson and Audrey (Roy) Miller; sister, Ardis Trulin; and his loving wife, Jennifer (Thorne) Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A small social gathering will follow the service.
