David Scott Brown, 69, of Red Wing, died Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 5, 1955, in Minneapolis, MN to David O. and Katherine J. (Conroy) Brown. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1973, and then attended St. Cloud State University.
Dave worked at Randy's Restaurant while in high school. After over 30 years of service as a non-licensed operator at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, he retired on April 1, 2011. Over his years in the power industry, Dave enjoyed collecting Reddy Kilowatt and Northern States Power items.
Dave was an advocate of local history. He spent many hours at the Goodhue County Historical Society Museum. His research, coupled with his financial support, led to a collaboration with the City of Red Wing for the creation of the Goodhue County Poor Farm storyboards at Lower AP Anderson Park.
Dave was known to drive interesting cars. For many years, Dave was a member of the Buick Car Club of America and participated in many regional and national Buick events with 'Big Blue', his 1972 Buick GS 455.
Dave is survived by his brother, Steven (Barbara) Brown of Red Wing. two nephews, a great-niece and a great-nephew. He was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Daniel, one sister-in-law, Kendra and one nephew.
A visitation is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service on Monday, March 3, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Private family burial will be at the Burnside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Goodhue County Historical Society.
