Red Wing

A wonderful man left this world today. David James Glover was 76 years old. He was born to Edmund and Marian (Schumacher) Glover along with his twin brother Dennis on August 7, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa. He graduated from Wahlert Hight School and became a member of the U.S. Marine Corp. In 1976 he graduated from the University of Dubuque with a Special Education degree and later received a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. On July 14, 1973, he was united in marriage to Beverly Raser in Chaska, Minnesota. They moved to Red Wing in 1977 where Dave started his 32 year teaching career. He loved his job and loved his students. He was devoted to teaching and served as president and chief negotiator for the Red Wing Education Association leading to his involvement with Minnesota Education Association. His greatest joy was volunteering as a coach and mentor for Special Olympics both locally and at the state level. He received the Minnesota Special Olympics Spirit Award in 1998 and 2017.

Dave is survived by his wife Bev of 53 years, his son Chad and wife Rachel, daughter Jillian and husband Joshua Fox and his four grandchildren who brought him so much love and joy – Onyx Fox, Brik, Remi, and Etta Glover. He always said if he had known how much fun grandkids were he would have skipped kids and have gone right to the grandkids. Also survived by his brothers Terry (Leah) Glover, Red Wing, Tim (Peggy) Glover, Virginia, Ted (Marie) Glover, Westby, Wisconsin, and sister Jackie (Michael) Mulgrew, Dubuque, Iowa, special cousins Sue & Ray Pregler and Mary Ellen Timbs, brothers and sisters in law Gene (Pam) Raser, Jan (John) Chapman, Tim (Anne) Raser, Barb (Jim) Cullen, Paul (Debbie) Raser, Doug Raser, Mary (Brian) Dahlke, LeeAnn (Michael) Swanson, Tony Raser (Mary Lewis) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Dennis; sister, Joyce; brother-in-law Tony; in-laws, Walter and Rose Raser; and special student and friend Damien Boggs.
