David "Dave" Robert Swenning

David (Dave) Robert Swenning, 78, went home to be with the Lord on February 28, 2026. He passed from the comforts of his home with family and his dog by his side.

David was born on November 7, 1947 in Northome, MN to parents Helen and Gilmer Swenning. Dave proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. His time in service was reflected in his dedication, strength, and love for his country. Dave married Sandra on December 22, 1988. He deeply loved his wife, Sandra Swenning, and cherished the life they built together. He treasured his family more than anything. Dave enjoyed all the simple pleasures life had to offer: rides through the countryside, time spent together, and even a few trips to the casino now and again. Those moments, filled with laughter and conversation, will forever live in our hearts.

Dave is preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Gilmer; Father-in -law W.Lee, brother, Ben; sister, Mary; and beloved son, Christopher. He leaves behind his loving wife Sandra; his children: David (Ronda), Nels (Jamie), Ilah (Chris), Joey (Brenda), Debbie (Zach), and Rob (Abbey); daughter-in-law Tory; grand-children: Rebecca, Justine, Alex, Jada, Spencer, Gabby, Kiyah, Megan, Ashlyn, Evan, Spencer, Ellie, and Emmet; and great-grandchildren: Zoey, Chloe, and Stella. He also leaves behind his faithful and loving dog, Dwight. Though we will miss him deeply, we rejoice in knowing he has gone home to be with the Lord and is at peace. His love, strength, and devotion to family will continue to guide us everyday. He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

A private family burial will take place at Fort Snelling at a later date. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel.
