Debra “Debbie” Kay Wood, 73, of Red Wing, MN, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born April 2, 1953, in Red Wing to Lowell and Almira (Aslakson) Ramstad. She grew up in Red Wing and attended Red Wing schools. Debbie met the love of her life, Steven Wood, at 12-years-old, at the local roller rink. They were married June 29, 1970, in Kirksville, Missouri. Together they raised their 3 children in Red Wing so “they could grow up surrounded by family”, which was very important to Debbie.
She worked various jobs including Maidrites and Mary’s Supper Club but her 30-year career was with the Red Wing Shoe Company. She had a solid work ethic that kept her devoted to her work her whole life.
Debbie loved searching out hidden gems at garage sales and curating her jewelry collection. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards and other games. She loved being outside, either in her garden or at her cabin, sitting on the porch and watching for the deer to come by. She was a joy to be around, and she loved meeting new people… truly one of a kind.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Steven Wood; 3 children, Tammi Aslakson, Steve (Stacy) Wood, Jr., and Tracy (Roxanne) Nelson; 10 grandchildren, Ashley (Justin), Mills (Olivia), Miranda (Tyler), Brandon, Carly, Vanessa (Matt), Mason (Kasey), Breanna (Kia), Sebastian (Heather), Hope, and Madison; 11 great-grandchildren (2 more on the way!); 6 siblings, Sherryl Edgington, Jim Ramstad, David (Jane) Ramstad, Bruce (Jeannie) Ramstad, Cynthia Ramstad, and Dawn (Steve) Lindstrom; as well as many nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher and a great-grandson, Payton; and her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2026, at United Lutheran Church with Rev. Justin Boeding officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel and one hour prior to the service at church.
