Delila C. Heydmann

Delila C. Heydmann, 97, Zumbrota, died Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Zumbrota Care Center.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2026 at Grace Lutheran Church in rural Goodhue with the Rev. Martin Weigand officiating. A visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Grace Lutheran Church cemetery, immediately following the service.

Delila C. Groth was born November 3, 1928 in Minneola Township in Goodhue County, the daughter of Otto and Dothea (Hinrichs) Groth. She was baptized on Nov. 25, 1928 at St. John’s Minneola and confirmed there on Nov. 1, 1942. She attended country school in Minneola Township. On October 16, 1946 she married Harley Banitt in Minneola Township. He died February 27,1981. She married William Heydmann on December 5, 1981 at Grace Lutheran church. He died February 6, 2011.

Delila was a homemaker, who raised her children and also helped with the farming. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, and playing cards with friends

Delila is survived by her children, JoAnn Egge of Cannon Falls, Diane Mann (John)of Zumbrota, Brian (Marsha) Banitt of Rochester, Susie Thomforde of Goodhue, Diane Banitt (daughter-in-law) of Pine Island, Bruce (Cherie) Heydmann, and Brenda Hovel of Zumbrota. She has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harley; husband William (Bill); sons Bradley and Bruce Banitt; Daughter-in-law Linda Banitt; Son-in-laws, Richard Egge and Norris Thomforde; brothers, Ervin, Clarence, Raymond and Vernon Groth; sisters, Hilda Smith and Adeline Banitt, and a stillborn son.

Arrangements are with the Mahn Family Funeral Home-Larson Chapel.

Memorials are preferred to Grace Lutheran church

The family offers heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at the Zumbrota Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. Deep appreciation is also extended to Pastor Weigand and Chaplain Eric for their many visits and the comfort of their prayers.
