Delores M. Tarpenning, age 86, of Rochester, died Monday (Oct. 6, 2014) at her home.
Delores Marie Hamm was born March 4, 1928 in Windom, MN to Matthew M. and Anna M. (Jenson) Hamm. She was raised and attended schools in Windom. On Nov. 7, 1946 she married Charles Tarpenning in Mankato, MN. The couple lived in Windom, where she was a homemaker, until moving to Rochester in 1958. Delores worked for the Mayo Clinic in Housekeeping from 1974 until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was active in Meals on Wheels. The couple spent many summers at their cabin on Whitefish Lake in Wisconsin, and wintered in San Benito, Texas. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband; her son Dennis (Barbara) of Rochester; six grandchildren, Sean Tarpenning, Michelle Easton, Angela Peterson, Joseph Tarpenning, Kara Dvorak, & Tyler Tarpenning; thirteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Thomas, and Dale, two sisters and eight brothers.
The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 9, 2014) at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Rochester Chapel with Rev. Jason Burggraff of Bethel Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Thursday, and a reception will be held following the service. Burial in Grandview Memorials Gardens will be at a later date.
