Dennis Bennett

Dennis Bennett, 66, of Prairie Island, died Friday, May 3, 2024. He was born April 8, 1958 in St. Paul to John H and Geraldine (Thill) Kohnen. He grew up in the Como area and attended high school there. He graduated class of 1977. After graduation he attended St. Paul Technical College where he studied carpentry. In 1986 he met Audrey Campbell and he has been by her side ever since. He worked for Mondo Construction for many years before he officially retired from the trades. He drove the bus for Red Wing schools for a time and also worked as a courier for Priority Courier. However, he spent most of his time being a caretaker. He looked after his grandkids and drove them to school. He helped take care of his mother-in-law as well as many others. He was always ready to be there when someone needed an extra hand. 

Dennis like talking politics and watching Fox news. He liked to spend his time fishing and swimming. He also enjoyed watching car racing and doing a little bit of gambling. Most of all he enjoyed watching his grandkids sporting events. 

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; children, Annjelica Bennett, Larry Yazzie, and Tamara McBain; brother-in-law, Calvin Campbell grandchildren, Benjamin Jr., Antoine Bennett, Sabra Campbell, Marius Bennett, Quan Hollins, Ida Bennett, Ayreon Walker, Raymond Walker, David Boldt, Audriana McBaine-Boldt, and Kevin Jr. Boldt; great-grand son, Adrian; siblings, John Jr. Kohnen, and Barbara Johnson; great-nephew, Cash Campbell; his beloved dogs, Sky and Harmony; as well as many friends. 

He is preceded in death by his son; Benjamin Bennett Sr.; daughter, Cassie Bennett; mother-in-law, Vivian Mireau; father-in-law, Curtis Campbell; nephew, Solomon Campbell; his brother, Jeff Kohnen; and his parents.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
