Dennis Frederick Lichtblau, 71, of Mazeppa, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his home. He was born on February 9, 1940, the son of Fritz and LuVonna (Tomforde) Lichtblau. Dennis attended school in Lake City and graduated from Wabasha High School. He married Norma Gander on December 13, 1958 and they were later divorced. He began working at Federal Mogul in 1961 and remained there for the last 50 years. Dennis married Barbara Wegman-Nord on July 6, 1979 in Red Wing. The couple lived in Mazeppa. He enjoyed horseback riding in his early years. Dennis also enjoyed gardening, reading, dancing, card playing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, four wheeling, woodcutting, and also spending time with family and friends.
Dennis is survived by his wife Barb; three daughters, Denise (Russell) Braatz of Lake City, Susan (Joe) Wedrickas of Red Wing, Shari (Cliff) Vars of Austin, TX; two step-sons, Keith Nord of Rochester, Wayne (Laurie Long) Nord of Oronoco; special family members, Reed (Jill) Kvittem of Wanamingo; thirteen grandchildren, Jolene Smolek, Jason Stein, Josh Wedrickas, Ella Vars, Jack Vars, Taylor Kvittem, Brett Kvittem, Cody Nord, Nick Dahlgren, Tara Johnson, Tia Johnson, Fred Long, Justin Long; two great-grandchildren, Briana and Brooklynn Smolek; one sister, Dorothy (Rod) Wiltermuth of Hastings; nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; one step-daughter, Deborah Nord-Kvittem.
Funeral will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January, 5, 2012 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home- Larson Chapel in Zumbrota with Pastor Dave Neil officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
