Doris A. Kunz

Doris Ann Kunz, 93, of West Concord, died Monday, May 12, 2025, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Marys Campus. She was born March 26, 1932, in Roscoe Township, to Arland and Emily (Matti) Archer. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1950. On June 11, 1950, she married James Kunz. She and her husband farmed in the West Concord and Pine Island Area until retirement in 1986. Doris was a great cook and kept everyone fed at family gatherings. She was an excellent writer and always kept in touch through her letters. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and puzzles. Doris was well known for her bountiful gardens and the produce she sold to many in the area. Along with her gardens keeping her busy, so did the canning that went with it. Throughout the years as her family grew, she always enjoyed seeing her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even a few great-great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Gerald (Shelly) Kunz of Pine Island, Dennis (Brenda) Kunz of West Concord, Diane Budensiek of Zumbrota and Daniel (LeaAnn) Kunz of West Concord; 21 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Harold (Arlis) Archer of Zumbrota; a sister, Irene (Leon) Spreiter of West Concord and 2 daughters-in-law, Christine Kunz and Debbie Kunz.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James in 2009; 3 sons, Larry, Dale and Leslie Kunz; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Sharie Archer and step-grandson, Andrew.

A celebration of Life for Doris will be held on Sunday, June 15, from 1-4 p.m. at the Pine Island Legion. A private family burial was held at the Pine Island Cemetery. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel, Pine Island.
