Dorothy Jagusch

Dorothy Edwardine Jagusch, 100, of Red Wing, died peacefully at Benedictine Living Community, St. Crispin’s in Red Wing on Friday, February 21, 2025. She was born on January 24, 1925, in Red Wing to Almer and Edith (Haller) Kolberg. She graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1943, and then attended Kaehler School of Nursing in Rochester, graduating in 1947. On November 7, 1953, she was united in marriage to Wallace Jagusch at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. She worked a number of years at St. John’s Hospital in Red Wing as a nurse, before taking time off to raise her and Wallace’s two children, Miles and Kari. She later returned to the hospital and continued her nursing career until retiring in 1987. 

Dorothy enjoyed gardening and socializing with family and friends. Her family recalls her wonderful talent of cooking and baking, always having something good to eat. Dorothy took great joy in babysitting all of her grandchildren. She made it a point of pride to remember the name of each child and grandchild of everyone she conversed with. She always stepped up to care for family members and friends whenever she could be of service. Her strong faith and acts of service were an inspiration to all that knew her. She was an active member of United Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by two children, Miles (Marsha) Jagusch of Zumbro Falls and Kari Jagusch of Oakdale; three grandchildren, Sydney (Ryan) Frank, Bekken (Mary) Jagusch and Carson Koehnen; three great grandchildren, Aria, Brand and Reyna Frank; one sister, Sandy Thompson of Philadelphia, PA; one sister-in-law, Marion Kolberg of Red Wing and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace in 2010; one grandson, Brand Isaac Jagusch, seven siblings, Byron Kolberg, Gwen Thomforde, Norma Thomforde, Pat Borgen, Sue Hokenstrom, Jim Kolberg and Tom Kolberg.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing and at the church for one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to United Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
