Douglas Gordon Hirdler, 83, of Corpus Christi, TX, formerly of Red Wing, MN, died Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Corpus Christi.
Douglas was born on December 26, 1942, in Red Wing, to Gordon and Lillian (Stephan) Hirdler. He graduated from Red Wing Central High School in 1960 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls. On April 24, 1965, Douglas was united in marriage to Sharon Dosdall at United Lutheran Church in Red Wing. He was an Eagle Scout and proudly worked for the Boy Scouts of America for 40 years, his final position was serving as the general manager of the Northern Tier National High Adventure Base for the Boy Scouts of America in Ely, Minnesota. Douglas and Sharon had plenty of adventures during the 60 years they had together… they lived in Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Missouri, and Texas. He was a lifelong Vikings fan and enjoyed coaching girls basketball.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Sharon Hirdler; children, Todd (Danise) Hirdler, Paula Hirdler (Daniel Hastert), and Dawn (Doug) Fick; grandchildren, Daniel Koerner (partner, Haley Weiss), Kylii (Adam) Grambow, Gage Hirdler, Alyssa Fick, Emmanuel Fick, and Lilliana Fick; great-grandchildren, Eliza Fritz and Zoey Hancock, Levi Grambow, Paisley Grambow, Beckett Grambow, and Judah Grambow.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lillian Hirdler; son, Donald Hirdler; and great-granddaughter, Addison Rochon.
A private graveside will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing, MN. Arrangements by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn chapel.
