Edith (Edee) Thurber born, at home, 4/10/1929 in Rushford MN, passed away peacefully Monday, 5/27/2024 at Charter House with her family in her heart and by her side.

The youngest in her family of six, mother, Christine and father, Carl A. Larson moved to Rochester before her 6th birthday. Edee met the love of her life Deloran (Del) Thurber in 5th grade and started dating at 16 years old - her parents liked him 'even though he had a motorcycle!' and were blessed to have celebrated 70 years of marriage!

Edee was a proud member of the 'Class of '47' from Rochester High School, worked in the hematology lab at Mayo Clinic, Rochester Dry Cleaners and attended Rochester Junior College. Edee supported Del while he went to Medical School at the University of Minnesota and they lived in Denver while he interned at Denver General then returned to Rochester until Del was drafted by the Navy and moved to Bremerton, WA, finally returning to Rochester in 1958.

For over 40 years, Edee volunteered with Methodist Hospital and was honored to be a past President - volunteering was extremely satisfying to her, she enjoyed helping people while supporting Mayo Clinic.

Edee loved her children, sharing memorable hugs, a zest for life and a reason to celebrate the good times and learn from others, she was forever positive (aka Up North hockey nickname 'Bubbling Brooke'). Edee enjoyed her Norwegian heritage, dear friends, bridge, gardens, knitting, sewing (needlepoint), tennis, downhill skiing, dancing, cooking, entertaining, hockey, football, baseball, traveling (oceans and mountains), especially to visit her children and family who live out of state and spending time at the cabin on West Fox Lake with her 'Sunny Shores Family'.

Edee is survived by her son Jeff (Las Vegas, NV), daughters Karen (Roger) Reynolds, Pamela (Brian) Suneson (Arden Hills, MN), two grandchildren Rachel (Cody) Walth (Mankato, MN), Erik Suneson (Arden Hills, MN), two great-grandchildren, Camryn and Logan Walth (Mankato, MN), many nieces, nephews, special friends from California to Massachusetts and the extended Sunny Shores Families. Edee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Del Thurber, two brothers, Bennet and Carl Larson, three sisters Clarice Larson, Eunie Thompson and Mickey True and two brothers-in-law, Red Thompson and Harry True.

The Thurber family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Charter House Assisted Living staff who provided amazing compassionate care for Edee and Season's Hospice support.

From Edee: "As they say: 'Tak for alt!' (Thanks for everything)!"
