Elaine Robinson, 98, died at the Mayo Clinic Care Center in Lake City, Minnesota, on August 22, 2025. She was born August 5,1927, in Hillsboro, North Dakota, to John and Hazel Pederson. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1945 and she worked as a secretary at Midwest Feed and Produce.
Elaine married Gene Robinson in 1946 and they lived in Fargo, North Dakota; Lowell, Massachusetts; Morris, Minnesota; and Red Wing, Minnesota.
She was a long-time member of the Red Wing Woman’s Study Club, the League of Women Voters, a member and volunteer at the Goodhue County History Center, the Hospital Auxiliary, and she had served on various civic and ad hoc committees. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, and long walks. She was a member of United Lutheran Church where she especially enjoyed the TAG group.
Elaine and Gene traveled to many countries in Europe and enjoyed studying together to prepare for these trips.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Diane Laumer, of San Marcos, Texas; her son, Stephen (Vickie), of Bellingham, Washington; two grandchildren, Kurt and Anne; two great-grandchildren, Atarah and Mckael; two step-grandchildren, Chelsea and Simon; two sisters, Sandra (Allen) Mustad of Hillsboro, North Dakota; Sharon Burns of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; one brother, Neil (Jo) of Fargo, North Dakota; sister-in-law, Ann Pederson of East Grand Forks, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Gene; two brothers, John and Lyle; one sister, Muriel Wegge; and two brothers-in-law, Loren Wegge and Bill Burns, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held on September 12, 11AM, at United Lutheran Church, 628 W. Fifth St., Red Wing, Minnesota.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Wing Public Library, the American Cancer Society, or United Lutheran Church.
