Elaine Witzel

We are deeply sad to announce the sudden passing of Elaine Witzel, 71, of Lake City, Minnesota. She was born on August 7th, 1954 in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Elaine married Wayne Witzel on May 22nd, 1976 in Amery, Wisconsin at the First Baptist Church.

Elaine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved all animals, especially her cat, Boots. Her favorite things in her free time were trips to the casinos and scratch off lottery tickets.

Elaine and Wayne set roots in Lake City, Minnesota in 1983. Elaine worked at the Lake City Nursing Home and did in-home daycare for a short while before starting a job at IBM in Rochester. The majority of her career was spent working at Hearth and Home in Lake City for 18 years. After that she worked part-time in food service for Lake City Schools. Elaine retired in 2016 and in retirement Wayne and Elaine bought an RV and took countless trips to the casinos.

Elaine is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Wayne Witzel of Lake City, Minnesota; two daughters, Missy (Travis) Lerohl of New Prague, Minnesota and Mandy (Todd) Rother of Ellsworth, Wisconsin; two grandkids, Hunter and Sammie Lerohl; her brothers, Robert (Barb) Anderson of Deer Park, Wisconsin and Lavern Anderson of Altoona, Wisconsin; her sister, Sharon (Joe) Fuchs of River Falls, Wisconsin; her sister-in-law, Karen Wagner of Flippin, Arkansas; her brother-in-law, Gary (Korlee) Witzel of Menomonie, Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Rose Anderson; her parents-in-law, Leroy and Pearl Witzel; her brothers, Ronnie and Kenny Anderson; her sister, Luella Anderson; her brother-in-law, Bill Wagner; and grandchild, Brody Rother.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery in East Farmington, Wisconsin. Arrangements were entrusted to the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City, Minnesota.
