Ellerth Ullevig Overboe (son of Agnes and Hans Ellerth) born October 15, 1926 (married August 6, 1960 to Doris Piccino). They have no children. He attended the old Zumbrota School and graduated from high school in 1944. He attended Dunwoody Institute in the summer of 1943. He attended the University of Minnesota until he was drafted in 1945 into the Navy, where he served for 2 years, although for six months he was hospitalized. Upon honorable discharge he returned to the University of Minnesota from which he graduated in 1949 with a Bachelor's of Science degree. He became a member of the Zumbrota Masons (now defunct) in 1948 following his father and his grandfather (Hans Christian), and is now a member of the Cannon Falls Chapter, a 32 degree Mason and member of the Medina Shrine of Chicago. He subsequently earned a Master of Arts degree in 1958 from the University of Minnesota. He also did post-graduate studies at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Lake Forest College, Roosevelt University, Northwestern University, University of Illinois, and Knox College, all in Illinois. He also studied at the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies in Tennessee. He taught physics for 35 consecutive years in Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, and England. A Fulbright Teaching Scholarship for 1960-1961 in Birmingham, England was awarded to him. Very soon after their marriage in Evanston, IL, Ellerth and Doris went abroad. He retired from teaching in 1984 and became active in the Piano Technicians Guild, becoming president of the local chapter. He is an emeritus member of the American Association of Physics Teachers, a sustaining member of the Piano Technicians Guild, a member of the Fulbright Association, and a member of the Masters Piano Technicians. Since 1999, he has been an active member of the senior North Shore New Horizon Band. A masonic graveside service for Ellerth will be held at 1p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at the Zumbrota Cemetery in Zumbrota, Minnesota.
