Frank Charles Rau

Frank Charles Rau III, age 70, of Pine Island, passed away on April 27, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1955, and was raised in Osseo, Minnesota.

In his early years, Frank worked as a semi driver before building a long career in sales, representing a wide range of products-from real estate to hair care items to computers to LED projectors. In the mid-1980s, he began working at Best Buy, where he met his wife, Jackie. They married on October 22, 1988.

Frank enjoyed spending time with neighbors and friends, often lending a hand on home and yard projects. Together, they jokingly referred to their efforts as "Care Free Enterprises," with the motto: "It's free, as long as you don't care how it looks."

Although he struggled with chronic, debilitating leg and back pain for the last 20 years, he didn't let that stop him. He enjoyed caring for his plants and pond, watching and feeding the birds, and gathering with friends around the fire pit. He also took up woodworking and created many beautiful, handcrafted boxes.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Ann Rau and Frank Rau Jr., as well as his beloved wife, Jackie.

He is survived by sisters, Nancy Denton and Robin (Stephen) Zeid; son, Aaron Rau; stepdaughters, Sheila (Darin) Yamasaki and Kelly (Jason) Arvidson; and cherished grandchildren, Alex, Catherine, and Lauren Arvidson.

Frank's family would like to extend a special thank you to his health care provider of many years, Michelle Higgins, and the staff of Seasons Hospice.

A Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2026 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Mahler Chapel in Pine Island.

Frank will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his humor, his generosity, and the friendships he valued so deeply.
