Gayle Paula Bang, 78, of Red Wing, died Friday, October 31, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born December 23, 1946 in Red Wing to Elmer and Karen (Aanensen) Majerus. She grew up in Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing Central High School, class of 1964. She went on to do administrative work for Durkee Atwood and later, Jostens.
On September 14, 1968 she married Byron Bang and the couple raised 3 children. In 1969, they made their home in Red Wing.
Gayle was a wonderful homemaker and she made her family the center of her life. While raising her children, she often helped other family with child care too.
Gayle loved paying attention to all the little details that made an event special. Whether it was running an extremely well-organized garage sale, decorating the house for the holidays, or knowing that all pancakes taste better as Mickey Mouse pancakes, Gayle had a way of going above and beyond. She would lend her organizational skills to her children's passion projects as well, helping her daughter raise money for the River Bluff Human Society.
She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and relax with a fancy coloring book. She was very book smart and enjoyed playing along with game shows. She was huge fan of Big Brother, the Amazing Race, and Survivor. Gayle also loved to collect elephants and Tiggers.
She is survived by her husband, Byron; 3 children, Mike Bang of Kellogg, Lisa (Steve) Bruni of Red Wing, and Greg Bang of Kellogg; 2 siblings, Grant (Marilyn) Majerus and Lynne Bangasser; 6 nieces and nephews; Shari Tix, Amy Majerus, Ryan Bangasser, Brian Majerus, Danny Diercks, and Erin Ignatowicz; as well as numerous grand-dogs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Karen; her in-laws, Kenneth and Donna; sister-in-law, Judy Diercks; and 2 brothers-in-law, Glenn Diercks and Steve Bangasser.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Online condolences may be left for the family at www,mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
