George Angus Boyd

George Angus Boyd was born November 7, 1930 to Wilfred and Anna Boyd in the family farmhouse on the original Boyd farm near Boissevain, Manitoba. He died August 2, 2026, at 95 years and 8 months, surrounded by his family at the home of his son and wife, Daryl and Vicki Boyd of Ellsworth, WI.

George was second of five children. His siblings included Evelyn (George) Shoreland / (Stanley) Burns, Norman (Susan) Boyd, Audrey (Barrie) Tulloch, and Velma (Jim) Martin.

George married Elva Wilde on November 17, 1951, and together they had three children: Melvin of Portsmouth, VA, Daryl (Vicki) of Ellsworth, WI, and Ardith (Doug) Craven of Duluth, MN. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

George and Elva began married life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Later they moved to Minnesota, where they spent 14 years in New Hope and 31 years in Elk River. In 2003 they moved to Ellsworth, WI.

George spent about 20 years doing autobody repair followed by 22 years of cabinet-making. He was known for his skilled workmanship and attention to detail. George had a strong work ethic and brought energy and enthusiasm to every task. Even after his abilities were limited by dementia, he tried to help in any way he could.

George was a man of strong faith. His Bible was worn, and his life was proof of his love for God. George and Elva enjoyed hosting fellowship gatherings in their home for many years. Countless friends and family cherish their memory of the twinkle in George’s eye, his attentive way of listening, and his deep care for them.

In 2021, George and Elva were unable to maintain their own home. They moved in with Daryl and Vicki, where they enjoyed care, hospitality, and visits from family and friends. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers who supported George during that time, including St. Croix Hospice.

George was preceded in death by his parents: Wilfred and Anna, his wife: Elva, his siblings: Evelyn and Norman, and his brothers-in-law: George Shoreland, James Martin, and Barrie Tulloch. 

Services will be Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Ellsworth Chapel with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Ellsworth, Wisconsin.
