Gerald "Jerry" Leroy Roles, 73, of Lake City, died Friday, November 14, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 1, 1952 in Calio, North Dakota. He grew up on the family farm and went on to attend Aakers Business College in Grand Forks. From 1976 to 1980, he lived and worked in Asotin, Washington. He worked for Harold Chevron and the State Department in Anatone. He would also go on to work for Pioneer Chemicals and Dixon Farms.
In 1981, he married Laura Beckmann and the couple made their home on the farm in Lake City. Together they raised 2 children.
Jerry made a career of both working on the farm and truck driving. He enjoyed his work, and despite his failing health, Jerry was determined to plant his final crop in the spring. He loved to travel both for work and for pleasure. He and Laura went all over the country, visiting family and enjoying their time together. He had a special interest in history, particularly war history and enjoyed visiting war museums on his travels.
He had a dedicated group of friends who he would go elk hunting with in Wyoming every year. He also enjoyed yearly fishing trips. Jerry had a deep love for the mountains out west.
Jerry lived his life guided by faith and by family. He was devoted to his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he was very close with all of them. Even his grand-dog, Arlo, was excited to go to grandpa's.
