Gloria married her Moline, Illinois high school sweetheart, Bill Cant. In the early years of their marriage, Gloria took on administrative roles in Chicago to help support Bill through medical school, working with the Rock Island Railroad and the Secretary of State's office.
Throughout Bill's medical career, they lived in various cities, including San Diego, California, Rock Island, Illinois, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Milwaukee, and Madison, Wisconsin. In 1964, they settled in Red Wing, Minnesota, where Gloria dedicated herself to raising their four daughters, always putting their happiness first.

Gloria loved being active and was a social butterfly in the community of Red Wing. She enjoyed golfing, walking, playing bridge, boating on the river, traveling, reading, and tending to her flowers and plants. She had a strong Christian faith and volunteered teaching religion when her children were young. Her home was her pride and joy where she loved entertaining, cooking and baking, watching wildlife, and waving to the golfers from her window. She made the best chocolate cake, pies, and rhubarb desserts.
Gloria spent the last 28 years with Norm Rud. She wintered for many years in La Quinta, CA, traveling, golfing, and attending and hosting family gatherings.
