Iver Eggenberger

Iver Eggenberger, age 92, of Lake City passed away October 5, 2017 at the Lake City Care Center. Iver was born December 7, 1924 in Lake City, Minnesota to John and Lillian (Burfeind) Eggenberger.

Iver grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School. He served in the Army as a Mess Sargent in the 488th Light Pontoon Engineering Unit during WW ll. On January 12, 1946, Iver married June Olson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City. After they were married they lived in Lake City. Iver worked as a foreman at Di-Acro for 27 years, retiring in 1984. He and his brother Rod owned and operated a painting business for many years in Lake City. He also worked as a Basketball referee in the Southeast Minnesota area for over 20 years. Iver was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, serving as president of St. John's Church Board and St. John's Cemetery Board. He also served as a Rochester Basketball Officials president, Lake City Cable Board and was a Life Member and past commander of the Lake City VFW Post 8728 and a member of American Legion Post #110. Iver was an avid sports fan and cribbage player. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Iver is survived by his four sons, Gary (Jeanne) of Charles City, IA, James (Deanna) of Boca Raton, FL, Lee (Sharon) of Lake City, MN, Todd (Polly) of Shorewood, MN; daughter, Laneova of Clarkston, WA; 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, a brother Rod (LaVonne) of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife June, daughter Ardis Eggenberger, one sister Ardis, five brothers Dallas Harley, Dick, Arvid, and Virgil Eggenberger.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church and St. John's Cemetery. On Line Condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
