Jacqueline "Jay" Mae Mikaelsen

Jacqueline Mae Mikaelsen "Jay", born on January 7th, 1949 in Red Wing, MN to Aldor Leonal Freeberg and Ida Marie (Hanson) Freeberg went home to be with the Lord on September 5th, 2026 at the age of 77. She was born with a twin sister, Katherine who remained always her best friend.

Jacqueline graduated from Red Wing High School in 1967 and after school graduated in 1969 from California Lutheran Bible School where she met her future husband, Paul. On September 20th, 1969 Paul and Jacqueline married at the Vasa Lutheran Church in Minnesota. In 1976 Paul and Jacqueline joined the World Mission Prayer League, Inc in Minneapolis, MN as full time missionaries. In 1977 Paul and Jacqualine with their two children, Theresa and Jesse, traveled to Caranavi, Bolivia to take over the work of the Christian radio station, "Radio Caranavi". In 1979 they returned to the USA and their son, Dallas, was born. In 1990 they returned as a family to Caranavi, Bolivia to continue the work with the radio and adding television to their ministry broadcasting under the name "Radio Television Caranavi - RTC". Paul and Jacqueline served full time with RTC in Bolivia until retiring in September, 2021 and then helped out for several years from the states.

Jacqueline was very active in the ministry of the radio and TV station, working in finances and administration. Other activities included a children's ministry, a small snack shop to teach business, an outreach program that made contact all around the country, help with community affairs; getting equipment and supplies to the Caranavi hospital, helping in disasters, doing fund raisers for people with special needs, and hosting many work teams and guests who came. RTC impacted the entire country of Bolivia & beyond with the gospel message.

Jacqueline served as state chaplain in 1985-86 for the new organization, Woman of Today. Jacqueline loved people, travel, singing and playing guitar, reading, hand work, playing games & cards, and experiencing new adventures. She loved her family & friends. To be a missionary was her life-long desire.

Jacqueline is survived by her daughter Theresa (Mitch) Bates of Caranavi, Bolivia; son Jesse (Anne) Mikaelsen of Whitehall, MI; and son Dallas (Danae) Mikaelsen of Miami, Fl; grandchildren Evan Ringelberg, Kellan Mikaelsen, Piers Mikaelsen, Fern Mikaelsen, and Spring Mikaelsen; and sibling Katherine "Kay" Fiksen of Red Wing, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Jacqueline is preceded in death by her parents Aldor & Ida Freeberg, brother James Freeberg, and husband Paul Gerhard Mikaelsen.
