James Michael Solberg

A memorial service for James Solberg will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wanamingo, MN with Reverend Kris Ferkin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. Jim passed away on May 26, 2023, at his home in Maple Grove, MN.

James Michael Solberg was born February 17, 1963, to Don and Gertrude “Trudy” (Froyum) Solberg. Jim grew up in Minnesota, Iowa, Georgia, and Illinois. He graduated from Kaneland High School in Maple Park, IL and from Mankato State University in Mankato, MN in 1984. Jim was employed one year at a bank in Atlanta, GA, then at the Mercantile Exchange in Chicago, IL, and the Board of Trade in Chicago, IL. For the past several years, he was employed at Ace’s Power in Maple Grove, MN.

In high school Jim was on the basketball, golf, and baseball teams. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being part of a yearly golf get-together called, “Boyzz Weekend Golf Group.” He enjoyed visiting his parents’ home in Arizona several times a year to visit them and golf. Jim made friends wherever he travelled.

He is survived by his father, Don Solberg of Wanamingo, MN; two brothers, Paul Solberg of New Hudson, MI and Jon Solberg of Minocqua, WI; nieces and nephews, Brianna (Steve) Brummer of Ann Arbor, MI, Lindsay Solberg of New Hudson, MI, Aaron Solberg of Minocqua, WI, Daniel and David Solberg of Vail, CO, and Abigail Solberg of Rhinelander, WI, and her son, Colton Riely.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Trudy Solberg.
