Janice Mae Hinsch, 89, of Red Wing, died Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Elysian Fields in Red Wing. She was born December 3, 1935 in Red Wing to Leonard and Myrtle (Martenson) Hilan. She grew up in Goodhue and graduated from Goodhue High School, class of 1953. On July 21, 1956 she married John Hinsch at Minneola Norwegian Lutheran Church and the couple made their home in Welch where they farmed. She also worked as a lab tech for the Interstate Medical Clinic. In 1990, she and John moved to Red Wing and their son took ownership of the farm.
She was a member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, served on the church council, and held offices with LWELCA. She was also a mission leader, fostering support for needy families in Mexico.
She and John enjoyed traveling; together they visited 31 foreign countries. They also wintered in Texas for 24 years. She loved playing cards, especially Euchre. She was a talented knitter and crocheter. She also enjoyed keeping up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's various activities.
She is survived by her son, Jonathan Hinsch, and daughter, Janeen (Blake) Immerfall; 4 granddaughters, Stephanie (Tom) Scibora, Megan (Andy) Osterhaus, Christina (Pat) Hill and Dr. Mallory (Dr. Matt) Charging; 8 great-grandchildren, Liam and Sophia Scibora, Ethan and Ella Osterhause, Theodore "Teddy" Hill, and Kellan, Isla, and Bennett Charging; siblings, Phyllis Witt, Shirley Thomforde, and Roger (Elaine) Hilan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John; and her parents.
