Jeffrey Allen Blakstad

A memorial service for Jeffrey Blakstad will be held Monday May 15th at 11:00 AM at Minneola Lutheran Church, 13638 County 50 Blvd., Goodhue.  The Rev. Hannah Bergstrom De Leon will officiate.  Visitation will be Sunday 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel, in Zumbrota, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.  Jeff, age 63, died Wednesday May 10, 2023 at his home in Zumbrota after he conceded his longtime struggle with depression.

Jeffrey Allen Blakstad was born December 14, 1959 to Charles and Laverna (Simonson) Blakstad.  Raised in the Roscoe and Hader areas, he was a graduate of Wanamingo High School with the Class of 1978.  He worked 44 years at DFA in Zumbrota, from which he recently retired.  He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed watching various sports’ events on TV.  He especially enjoyed gardening, field work, and spending time at his cousin Kitty’s farm.

He is survived by his sisters, Edith (Dale) Andrist of Pine Island, Judy Kunz of Pine Island, Diane Hunt of West Concord, and a brother Jerry (Jean) Blakstad of Inver Grove Heights.  Also surviving are his close cousin Les “Kitty” Blakstad, as well as nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law.
