Jerry Joe Majerus

Jerry Joe Majerus, 64 of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026 after a long and difficult battle with cancer. Jerry was born on September 1, 1961, in Lake City, Minnesota, to Gervase and Marjorie (Poncelet) Majerus. Throughout his illness, he was surrounded by constant love and care from his daughter Ashley, his mom, brother-in-law Jonathan, wife and several close relatives, and dear friends.

Jerry grew up in Bellechester, Minnesota, and graduated from Goodhue High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1980 and served in the National Guard.

On August 25, 1986, Jerry married Theresa Frank. Together they raised two daughters: Amber Jo (Jon) Mehrkens of Lake City, Minnesota, and Ashley Lynn (Roy) Johnson of Plainview, Minnesota.

Jerry worked on a hog farm and later became a semi driver. He spent several years employed at Valley Craft in Lake City and Ag Partners in Bellechester.

Jerry Joe was an avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed fishing, raccoon hunting, and collecting agates. He loved nature and treasured time spent with family at the family cabin, as well as visits to the Kehren cabin. Jerry also enjoyed collecting scrap metal for recycling and searching for antiques.

Jerry held a special place in his heart for his family, especially his daughters, sons-in-law, and six grandchildren: Makenna Jo, Austin Jon, Skylee Marjorie, and Chase Timothy, all of Lake City, Minnesota; and Summer Theresa and Autumn Leona of Plainview, Minnesota. He also dearly loved his dog, Chevy.

Jerry cherished time spent with family and friends and had a gift for making others laugh. Jerry was a great storyteller. The better the story, the taller the tale when it came to Jerry. His laugh will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Jerry is survived by his wife Theresa, daughters, Amber (Jon) Mehrekens, Ashley (Roy) Johnson, and 6 grandchildren, and his parents. He is survived by his sisters Kris (Andy) Kehren, Steph (Dale) Simonson, Angie Majerus and Chris Ball, and his brothers Stan (Nancy) Majerus, Chuck (Lori) Majerus, Fritz Majerus, and Todd (Sherie) Majerus. Also survived by brother-in-law Jonathan Luhman and sister-in-law Marguerite Kunesh-Majerus. He is also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Matthew and Angelia Poncelet and Arthur and Evelyn Majerus; as well as siblings Allen Majerus and Lora Luhmann.

Funeral wake will be held on Monday, June 1, 2026, at St. Mary's Church in Bellechester from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Church and begins at 11:00 a.m.
