Jerry Allen Quam, 82, of Wanamingo, MN, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Cannon River Assisted Living after battling Alzheimer’s. Jerry was born April 12, 1942 in Faribault, MN to Joseph and Edna (Johnson) Quam. Jerry grew up on a dairy farm in Byron, Minnesota and graduated from Byron High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Sharon Gladden on March 6, 1965.
Jerry and Sharon started their farming life together in Wanamingo Minnesota. They farmed for many years, raising quality sheep and milking dairy cattle with their children. Jerry showed his sheep at local county fairs, state, regional and national shows with great success. It was with great joy that he was able to visit with others with the same interests at these shows. Jerry enjoyed hunting deer and raccoon with Leroy and others in his younger days. He loved all types of sporting events, especially watching his kids and grandkids play basketball, football, and wrestling meets. Treasure Island was always a favorite destination for Jerry, Milt and anyone else who wanted to go with. Jerry also enjoyed bringing his 57 out to local parades.
Jerry is survived by four children, Robert (Pam) Quam of Goodhue, MN, Julie Quam of Cibolo, TX, Susan (Chris) Hokanson of Goodhue, MN, Rex (Malinda) Quam of Dodge Center, MN; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren plus 1 very soon and 8 living siblings.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Edna, his wife Sharon and brother Janelle.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Dale Lutheran Church, in Kenyon, with Pastor Dustin Haider officiating. The Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Larson Chapel, in Zumbrota, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
