Joan Abraham

Joan Ann Abraham, 94, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Lake City Care Center. Joan was born on June 20, 1929 in Bellechester, MN to Nicholas & Veronica (Majerus) Befort. She married Lloyd Abraham on July 12, 1950. They lived on the family farm until 1964 when they moved to Lake City. Joan ran a home daycare for many years and then worked at the Lake City Hospital as a nursing assistant and worked in activities at the Lake City Care Center. Lloyd passed away in 2013. Joan also enjoyed spending time in her garden and growing flowers, quilting and taking walks, reading and baking--especially banana bread and chocolate chip cookies. Family was very important to her, especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Kathy Sanders of Weslaco, TX., Faye (Thomas) Brown of Lake City, Robin (John) Laqua of Lake City; 2 grandchildren, Trent (Candace) Sanders, Kristi (Jamie) Schulz; 3 great grandchildren, Cooper & Chase Sanders, Khloee Schulz; brother, Donald (MaryAnne) Befort of Lake City; many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Abraham and son-in-law, Dale Sanders.
